I usually eat Fast food for lunch once a week or so. A few weeks ago I went to Jersey Mikes subs and a sub, chips and drink was over $15.

Last week I went to Burger King (don't judge me) and ordered a Big Fish sandwich and a small fries. Those two items were over $10.

I've decided that fast food is just not worth the money. I can go to eat decent local Mexican or Chinese in the $10-12 range.

Have any of you cut back on Fast food due to prices?

I've considered the vast majority of fast food to be garbage for years. I think the last time I was in Burger King was in 2021. The last time I was in McDonalds was probably 2016 and even that was only because I was with friends - I didn't order any food for myself. I've had food from Arby's once in the last five years or so.

It's hard to cut back from that so, no, I haven't really cut back on it.

WE cut back on fast food before this economy. For a while it was costing me more than going to a restaurant which is better food. Now in this economy restaurants are costing more and we have cut back on that.

It's true that fast food places have gotten to be more expensive than some conventional restaurants--if you are not careful about what you're ordering at the fast food place.

So, I guess that I have in fact cut back some, but almost all fast food places offer specials and coupons, sometimes after you fill out a small survey online, and I rarely buy anything from them these days without reducing the cost that way.

I have the feeling that most customers don't bother with this, considering how the cashier in some franchises can seem surprised or even unaware when handed the coupon.

I cut back on fast food years ago because of the calories and high sodium levels. The cost is in the back of my mind when we travel because fast food is even more expensive at the service plazas on the toll roads. But it's fast, so we get that type of food when we travel.

Again, that's quite true. But it's also the case that the mainstays (burgers, fries, wraps, nuggets, etc) sold by some of the best known fast food outlets are much higher in sodium content than their opposite number at other companies' places.

Most of these businesses have a "nutrition" section online, and it's interesting at least to see how they compare--and differ--in this respect.
