Who do you think did the best, and what was the main issue you wanted brought up, or was brought up?

My opinion of all (except Rand and Trump) went up as a result of watching the debate..... I like Bush but I think his last name probably makes him unelectable. I like Walker but I wonder if he's electable. I was most attracted to Rubio.

Trump, IMO, is a huge embarrassment and his ego (bigger than Jupiter) likely means he'll run a WELL FINANCIED independent run and insure our next president is another Clinton, so, to be blunt, I think we Republicans are wasting our time, money and effort... it's EXTREMELY hard to get a Republican elected at all (needing 100% of the Republicans and most of the Independents) but divide that Republican vote (even a small percentage) and a Democrat win is assured. I think Trump will spend enough money to INSURE that happens.... and the press will give him all the spotlight needed to guarantee that. So, it probably doesn't matter if we choose Bush or Rubio or Walker or whoever, it's likely in vain.

I get the impression that conservatism is almost eaten up with status envy.

Can you put that in other words? I don't understand what you mean.

I mean that the folk in the debate voiced more concerns about what other people have (or aspire to have through things like a $15/hour minimum wage) than they did about what good things they intend to do if they receive the nomination. They envy high status, and want to deny others a higher income so that they (and their imagines supporters) may feel successful compared to the minimum wage earners etcetera. It's not about being content with what one has, or living a godly life, it is about relative status - being above the other guy, the Hispanic immigrant (with or without paper work) and so forth.
