The reason for the bringing forth of the Ark of the Covenant is because like any good Judge, they do not proceed with their judgments unless the law is stated on which they violated.
Jeremiah 3:16
"And it hath come to pass when ye are multiplied, and have been fruitful in the land in those days" declares YAHWEH, "they say not any more 'the Ark of the Covenant of God'. Nor doth it go up on the heart, nor do they remember concerning it, nor do they inspect, nor is it made again".
Because we are at the point where the belief in the plain writing on the tablets of stone, no longer instill in us a sense of awe and seriousness in what is written, God needs to bring the Ark of Covenant back before the world, so that they know what thye will be judged by.
Rev 11:19
And opened was the Sanctuary of God in the heaven, and there was seen the Ark of His Covenant in His Sanctuary.
And there did come lightnings and voices and thunders and an earthquake and great hail.
The art of the Testimony/Covenant, built to hold the 10 commandments, symbolized God's covenant with His people but it is also the line upon which judgment will be made. And we also know that when Moses was told to build these holy things for the Tabernacle, God told him that they were patterned after the things in heaven. These were just copies of the real thing.
