Ginger extract shrinks prostrate tumors in mice by 56%

http://naturalsociety.com/ginger-destroys-cancer-more-effectively-than-cancer-drugs/

Pubmed article that it cites:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21849094

Dosage?

Approximately 10% of the mouse's body weight:

Quote: Remarkably, daily oral feeding of 100 mg/kg body weight of GE inhibited growth and progression of PC-3 xenografts by approximately 56 % in nude mice, as shown by measurements of tumour volume.

That's a lot of ginger extract. I'm drinking ginger tea again, but don't think I'll be getting anywhere near 10% of my body weight in it today, or any other day. Best to just include it as a regular part of the diet.

Edit: Big OOPS!!

Duh Strav....a mg is one/1000th of a gram, not a kilogram!

So the dosage is a lot smaller. .0001 of a Kilogram. So if you weigh 100 Kilos - 10grams.

100mg per kilo of body weight isn't 10% of body weight, it's 0.1g in 1000g, or 0.01% of body weight.

Someone who weighs 100kg would need 100x100 = 10,000mg = 10g of ginger extract. You can probably get that much into a good curry.

ETA: It's always interesting to see how some of the things I really like (hot peppers, real ale, and now ginger) turn out to be good for me. At this rate I'm going to live forever.

Yesterday I read that that stuff in curry does that too and other things.

Turmeric. It's what I used to speed heal my finger wound by applying it topically. It's a well researched spice as well. Here's just one application as it relates to brain cancer:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19368804

The article mentions low solubility in water. Turmeric is best not taken alone, but mixed with some fat. Good fat, of course, such as olive oil, chia oil, hemp oil...but even milk will do.
