This is pretty deep - like the idols post I made. Anyway, basically, what's driven at here - is the fact a primary theme of the Bible, along with idol worship, is the fact God wants us to trust on faith - because humans are not capable of real morality. Now, this statement gets you into hot water with atheists - cause they're always claiming that they're basically good people - and often, religious people are quite the opposite!

Anyway, even though it sound conspiracy-ish, it is interesting to note that the whole New Age movement, and much of modern life is centered on humans deciding their own morality.

The essence of sin is that people become their own God and try to live their own lives without God. This was Satan's statement in Genesis 3

4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

You notice he at first directly contradicts God by saying "You will not certainly die." And yet spiritually she did die at that moment. There became a division between her and God that was not there before. It was a spiritual death. Satan appealed to her pride and said "you will be like God"

I never really understood this passage until I got older. I wonder of most Christians don't understand it.

A primary theme of the Bible... is the fact God wants us to trust on faith - because humans are not capable of real morality.

I do not think this is true...

The real reason we stand in the Mystery of the Faith is because fallen human intellectual knowledge is utterly incapable of apprehending God...

The problem, in your terms, is that we CAN and DO exert real morality...

But morality is self-generated, apart from God...

Or it is socially generated, apart from God...

Morality in God is obedience to God and denial of self...

The Kingdom of Heaven is obedience to the King of Heaven...

If you do not obey the King of the Kingdom of Heaven,
Then you are not in the Kingdom of Heaven...

Not in this life...
