Philippians 2:13 ... for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

A lot of people think that Philippians 2:12 means we work "for" our salvation, but that verse says "work out", not for. The next line, which is quoted above, shows how God is at work in His people. We aren't alone as believers.

And others want to take at least partial credit for our work-out, @Lamb, whereas we wouldn't be able to do anything of lasting value apart from the Triune God's work in us, that's for sure!

It depends on what is in their heart. If they have zeal the least little bit, it is in their heart and God sees that. Conversely, if someone has it in their heart that they want to be saved and heard it is free so goody I wont have to do anything or change anything in my life...then God can see that also. So is that person really saved? Is Salvation a reality for him or her yet?

Perhaps not.

The entire point is that God works in us.

God saves us by giving us His forgiveness that was won at the cross and by grace through faith, we believe. Then God works in us to work out that salvation (not for since we already have it from Him). See all the work that God is doing within us? He works in us to do good works and bear fruit. He repents us! He turns us to Him in faith and changes us from the old Adam into the new Adam. We aren't alone in our walk with Him.

It's very possible there are Christians who get lazy. But that's not to say that God isn't working in those people, because He is. "Lo, I am with you all the days" is one of His promises to us.

Only in your first line, then you begin talking about other things which are related but not exactly that point.

...Then God works in us (If we allow Him to) to work out that salvation (But He tells us to work out our Salvation ourselves!)

Phillipians 2:12
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling..../KJV

So you can't rant all you want to that we don't have to lift a finger and it is wrong according to scripture. Next thing I suppose you'll tell me that we don't have to pray? Don't have to Fast?

We aren't alone in our walk with Him, but we dang sure are expected to be willing to walk out what He says to do. WE are the boots on the ground.

Romans 10:
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!.../KJV

(Actually the entire chapter should you read here because all of it is relevant.)

Oh so confession is made with the mouth unto salvation? Uh-Oh. Sounds like I have to do something, Unfair Unfair, it's a free gift! God does everything through me. I don't have to talk to people or try to lay hands on them or anything, God works though me so God will float me over there and my arm & hands will Go out by themselves to the people whom God wants to heal. All I do is watch! ??

Sister, you should be willing to study this one out some more. It might be possible that you have misunderstood some things.

Confession made with the mouth is proof that God gives faith, not the cause of faith.

Yes, Edward429451, we need to pray and obey the many commands in both the Old and New Testaments, but God provides all the motivation and strength for such actions. It's not a passive thing when we work out our salvation, but all the credit goes to God, who is working in us to accomplish any and everything we do. Thus, we need to praise him for his working through us.
