John 3:16  *shocker* I know.

We had a very kind neighbor lady named Mrs Royer, who didn't have any kids of her own, but every summer she held a Backyard Bible Club at her house and probably a dozen of us hood rats would gather in front of her flannel-graph tripod to hear Bible stories about hero's like David- (and his killing of Goliath) Samson- (and his killing of the Philistines) Daniel- and the lions den....

A lot of the stories were about killing. :ROFLMAO:

A beautiful testimony.
I learned it from reading The Power of Positive Thinking, a book that is really out of date now but helped me during a rough time in my life.

John 3:16 was the one that our Sunday School wanted us to learn right away when we were little.

It's an excellent verse and important for the world to hear. I guess that's why you see it on tv at almost every football or baseball game-- and I'm glad it was taught to me as a child-- cemented into the fabric of my soul, because it's the gospel message.

Or at least half of it. It's striking that the other half- John 3:17 is almost completely ignored. I'd bet a nickel that most folks who can forever rattle off John 3:16 'by heart' can even begin to explain what 3:17 is about.

It's entirely about 3:16 and the sending of God's son. Here it is:

John 3:17
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world should be saved through him.
