Filled with the spirit

I was just listening to chuck swindoll preach about being filled with the spirit. He talked about how the spirit enables and empowers the believer. I wondered to myself "why then does it seem so few believers live outstanding, empowered Christian lives including myself". For I feel like I fall short in numerous ways. Scriptures he referred to are Ephesians 5:15-20, Colossians 2:6, Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. What do you think being filled with spirit of God means and why does it seem so lacking today?

Yhe biggest reason I see is not being sold out to God completely, the world interferes, we get vcaught up in the every day. Most claim not to here the voice of God or of the Spirit and if they are deaf thenn how can they know? It requires obedience and doing things Gods way which usually is not our way and harder, many choose their way thinking it is better and thus negate the power of the spirit because God does not honor our way. The sopirit gives but it is God that empowers and if not in obedience He will shut it down.

The Holy Spirit will work according to His own time. We want to see immediate changes but immediate isn't always a part of His mighty plan. Look how long it took before God actually sent His Son after giving the promise of forgiveness in Genesis?

We also are still sinful even though we are covered by Christ's righteousness in our baptisms, the same righteousness of the cross given to us by water and Word. Our sinful nature will impede some progress.

Not enough all in .. .His Way people... Most do not want to live the biblical way.. It is too Jewish.
