Favourite Hymns

I find that hymns express prayer more fully than my often inadequate efforts. I collect hymn books and analyse the lives of the authors of hymns as they are often the most inspiring of people.

A powerful favourite that always brings me to tears is Abide with Me by Henry Francis Lyte. I have listed it for my funeral one day. It brings comfort.

Some of my favorites are Alleluia! Sing to Jesus, Hail Thee Festival Day, My Song is Love Unknown, Eat this Bread, A Hymn of Glory Let us Sing, and O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.
