Fastnachts or Paczki for Fat Tuesday? I believe Lent starts Wed, Feb 18 this year and that means Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras) is the day before. A lot of people have their last fattening sweets on that day and these kinds of filled donuts are their go to. Fastnachts are potato dough and Paczki are yeast based.

Which do you eat?

Actually, I'd never heard of either one.

Guess I'm just a pretty simple sort of guy.

Where would someone go to find things like that?

Some background information (from visitthe usa)

When Christianity arrived during the medieval years, religious leaders decided to incorporate the popular local customs of these pagan celebrations (think parades and lots of eating and drinking) into traditions, and they became a prelude to Lent..."

So how about the answer to the OP question? Do you prefer fastnachts, paczki or neither?
