Thou Shall Not Kill.
The original Hebrew word used for kill is "ratsach" which has the contextually appropriate meaning as being the deliberate taking of an innocent life (murder).

I doubt that that would mean that someone trying to kill or do serious bodily harm to you or someone else would fall into the category of being an innocent life.

Not something to be taken lightly though, and not something to be done if there is any way to avoid it since the one attacking is most likely not a saved Christian and his (or her) death takes away the possibility of ever becoming one.

I didn't read the OP as if someone was attacking but just "hostile". That could mean using words in a harsh manner.

Yeah, I see that could be the case. I try to allow for the OP being in Sweden and not fully familiar with conversing in English yet so I looked at hostile in relation to the rest of the sentence as meaning physically attacking, which would be one of the English meanings of it in a dictionary.

Either way, it is a topic worthy of discussion don't you think? Dealing with real life encounters and situations is where should display our Christianity and principles, IMO.

In any event, I do like discussions of this sort, to compare my views with other Christians views on serious subjects we have to deal with o a daily basis.

I was also thinking hostile could mean getting slapped. No one deserves to be murdered over a slap.

So what does the OP mean by Hostile... @Holy999?

I suppose the OP would need to clarify that.

But my take would be an enemy, as in a soldier being killed by a hostile while on guard duty or maybe like an innocent person being killed by a hostile crowd of political rioters, etc.

Words frequently have multiple meanings and nuances which often leads people to think they are talking about the same thing when, in reality, they are talking about two different things. This can easily give rise to conflicts between people that wouldn't have happened if the meaning of the words had been more specific in the first place.
