What are the signs of emotional neglect from parents?

Is it possible to heal from this type of neglect if your parents are no longer alive?

When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the LORD will take care of me.

And sometimes you get someone who does what they couldn't. My mom often had a woman from church who saw her as a mom and her own mom was not capable of giving her what she needed. They'd call me sis. Fine with me. I can share lol.

Oh now I remember. Corrie ten Boom's family took such kids in. One was always beaten in the face by her German mom and she behaved horrible. They took her in for some months to have a break, ignored that she slammed with doors and she became calm and friendly.
