Do you write with a pen anymore? I used to. I remember recording a kind of work diary when working on an accounting system for Hamersley Mining in Perth. The accounting system was written in ADABAS/NATURAL and it was important to keep track of which modules and in which portions of them I'd worked and what changes were made. Several times during the project my diary was pivotal in deciding questions about implementation and client documented requests. Now I almost never write with a pen. I type & print if hard copy is needed. Yet pens still work and are in many cases faster than typing and less prone to change/loss/sabotage. SMS texts and instant messaging services have made pen & paper almost an archaism. What a pity. Penmanship once was an art and skill that was encouraged now I wonder if people can even manage to write without it being clumsy script.
