Do you think that women ought to arm themselves with concealed carry?

Yes, it makes sense that women should be able to defend themselves from sick people who wish to harm them.

I think they shouldn’t *have* to, but it wouldn’t do any harm to protect themselves further.

But the best advice is to try avoiding situations where such may be needed. That advice goes for both men and women.

Well, that IS good advice...except predators aren't always in the bad locations or bad situations.

I think it's a smart idea.

If someone is going to seriously hurt me, I'm not going to get on the phone and wait for police to come to take care of it for me. I'd much rather be trained and equipped to protect myself in an instant.

Guns, and the threat of guns, exist whether people like it or not. So you might as well know how to protect yourself from one instead of being scared.

There is a book titled "Call 911 and Die." By the time the police arrive they will only be making a report. The bad guy will be long gone with your goods and you may be laying there injured or worse.

The last thing I want to do is shoot someone, but it is nice to have that option if someone is coming at you with a big knife, club, or other. Ideally if you have the opportunity to fire a warning shot, many wlll turn and run upon the firing of the gun. I love revolvers, but a semi-auto has the advantage that you have to manually rack the first shell, and that racking sound (even moreso if you have a shotgun) will alert the thug to the fact that you are ready to fire and he may turn and run at that point.
