In light of the verses from the New Testament that seem to prohibit useless discussions about doctrine, do you think that Christian internet discussion forums go against God's Will?

Hi,

Interesting subject.

I believe any discussion that Christians participate in, whether in person or online, should glorify God.

In my experience futile online discussions about doctrine are easier to abstain or withdraw from than their offline counterparts.

Having hosted and attended numerous Home Bible Fellowship Meetings I have come to loathe the conflict that results when controversial subjects take precedence over more congenial socialising.

Rom 6:22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.

I'd say that approval or otherwise is based on the content of a specific discussion rather than message boards in general. You can have a deep and meaningful discussion on a forum just as you can have a pointless discussion. It's much like reality - you can have a deep and meaningful discussion in person or you can have a pointless bickering session.
