No, the pandemic is not over because the number of cases in my locale is increasing and because the number of deaths and cases world wide is rising. Why or why not?
Why or why not?
It's not a matter of consideration, it isn't, because of how the term 'pandemic' is defined in epidemiology. 'Pan' means 'all' and 'demos' means 'people'. It's a pandemic because it's distributed throughout the whole population of the planet, with continuous local outbreaks all over the place.
By definition it isn't over. We don't yet know even if we're over the worst of it, because there are still fitness gradients in the population, and fitness gradients drive evolution to accelerate along those gradients in the direction of greater fitness as a simple and extremely basic matter of how evolution works.
Shanghai in China is at it's worse lockdown ever. It is not over for them, that is for sure. And for us it is only a matter of time until the next one.
It's not going to ever be over for the reason I gave in post #(9). Power and control. How coincidental that it is in China that it is the worst. Because in China you have the greatest desire for power and control.
If you're all that scared, just wrap a plastic bag aroung your head and put a rubber band around it where your neck is. No terrible covid germs will find their way in.

... except that's what they told us about cloth masks until the pesky virus underwent a change so small you'd need an electron microscope to see it that somehow trained it to sneak past the weave of a mask. Sooner or later a pesky virus will figure out how to cut a hole in a plastic bag, but only after it mutates a few times to keep people afrai.
