I think home remedies are interesting and worth looking into. But you have to be careful with some.

In the Foxfire books, Appalachian mountain folk ways of living, they give a remedy for a black widow spider bite.

"If bitten by a black widow spider, drink liquor heavily from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. You won't get drunk, you'll be healed."

Oh my son came home with a skeleton he found on the hay and Google said you had to clean it with hydrogen peroxide. It did work.
