I Disagree

See (God and Carnal Man) That's Spoken Of Clearly In God's Words, Living After The Flesh or Spirit In The Christians Perspective, Carnal Man Isn't Satan IMHO

Romans 8:1-14KJV
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
What exactly are you disagreeing with?

I equated to you a Biblical understanding of Souls and Spirits.

Given we are getting it right, someone is coming into the reality of God and potentially the reality of exorcism.

What exactly are you disagreeing with? Can you relate this to me in real ways without blindingly quoting scripture AT me.

Was there something in your soul [not God] that had been making itself its home.

I'm sealed by God the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption, my Name is written in the Lambs Book Of Life, devils/demons don't live within my soul as you falsely suggest, my body, soul, spirit, belongs to the Lord God Jesus Christ, bought and paid for!

"Stop the childish personal attacks" on a difference of opinion, I disagree with your claim that carnal man living according to the flesh is Satan

The original question was about demonic influence in a persons life, but it seems to have become more about demonic possession, which is something entirely different.

Perhaps it would be interesting to talk about that difference, and how to both recognize its causes, how they work, what facilitates it, and how to recognize and free yourself from them.

Good idea. Christians may not be able to be possessed by demons, but we all can certainly be oppressed by them. Enticing us, whispering things in our ear to give us inspiration to sin and so forth.

If any Christians are not being spiritually attacked in this way, then they must not be being a threat to the kingdom of darkness. Because I promise you, if your activities include doing things in Obedience and for the Kingdom of God, you will be attacked as scripture tells us.

I agree. It reminds me of that Cherokee Proverb, where two wolves fight within us.

But you made a good point, it could be 3 wolves that fight within us. Our soul always sides with the flesh and wants what the flesh wants. Even tho the main fight is between our spirit and our soul, because we have to overcome our soul in order to overcome the flesh. so that we can overcome our fleshly desires and then let our spirit dictate the actions of the flesh body, and not our soul. (That's what they fight about!)

It feels so very satisfying to pass a test. I don't think I've passed many of them and maybe that's why it's so satisfying to pass one once in awhile!

You quoted a lot of things at me. What does it mean?

What does it look like for someone to be that?
First, it means that we haven't arrived yet.
Second, it means that we must pray daily for God through Jesus' resurrection to replace our old-nature qualities with new-nature qualities that Paul describes in those passages and others in the New Testament.

Perhaps it would be interesting to talk about that difference, and how to both recognize its causes, how they work, what facilitates it, and how to recognize and free yourself from them.
How about a vision depicting the organization and cunning design of demonic attacks:

The Evil Army

I saw a demonic army so large that it stretched as far as I could see. It was separated into divisions, with each
carrying a different banner. The foremost and most powerful divisions were Pride, Self righteousness,
Respectability, Selfish Ambition, and Unrighteous Judgment, but the largest of all was Jealousy. The leader of this
vast army was the Accuser of the Brethren himself. I knew that there were many more evil divisions beyond my
scope of vision, but these were the vanguard of this terrible horde from hell that was now being released against the
church.
The weapons carried buy this horde had names on them: the swords were named Intimidation; the spears were named
Treachery; and their arrows were named Accusations, Gossip, Slander and Faultfinding. Scouts and smaller
companies of demons with such names as Rejection, Bitterness, Impatience, Un-forgiveness and Lust were sent in
advance of this army to prepare for the main attack. I knew in my heart that the church had never faced anything
like this before.
The main assignment of this army was to cause division. It was sent to attack every level of relationship-churches
with each other, congregations with their pastors, husbands and wives, children and parents, and even children with
each other. The scouts were sent to locate the openings in churches, families or individuals that rejection, bitterness,
lust, etc., could exploit and make a larger breech for the divisions that were coming.
The most shocking part of this vision was that this horde was not riding on horses, but on Christians! Most of them
were well-dressed, respectable, and had the appearance of being refined and educated. These were Christians who
had opened themselves to the powers of darkness to such a degree that the enemy could use them and they would
think that they were being used by God. The Accuser knows that a house divided cannot stand, and this army
represented his ultimate attempt to bring such complete division to the church that she would completely fall from
grace.

The Prisoners

Trailing behind these first divisions was a vast multitude of other Christians who were prisoners of this army. They
were all wounded, and were guarded by little demons of Fear. There seemed to be more prisoners than there were
demons in the army. Surprisingly, these prisoners still had their swords and shields, but they did not use them. It
was shocking to see that so many could be kept captive by so few of these little demons of Fear. These could have
easily been destroyed or driven off if the prisoners had just used their weapons.
Above the prisoners the sky was black with vultures named Depression. These would land on the shoulders of a
prisoner and vomit on him. The vomit was Condemnation. When the vomit hit a prisoner he would stand up and
march a little straighter for a while, and then slump over, even weaker than before. Again, I wondered why the
prisoners did not simply kill these vultures with their swords, which they could have easily done.
Occasionally a weak prisoner would stumble and fall. As soon as he or she hit the ground, the other prisoners would
begin stabbing them with their swords, scorning them as they did so. They would then call for the vultures to begin
devouring the fallen one even before they were dead.
As I watched, I realized that these prisoners thought that the vomit of condemnation was truth from God. Then I
understood that these prisoners actually thought they were marching in the army of God! This is why they did not kill
the little demons of fear, or the vultures-they thought these were messengers from God! The darkness from the cloud
of vultures made it so hard for these prisoners to see that they naively accepted everything that happened to them as
being from the Lord.

You can see by the description, the power of unrepentant sin in our lives. There is no defense when you are completely blinded.

There are ways we invite demons into our lives without knowing that is what we are doing, To deal with them requires more than casting them out, we need to discover within ourselves the original why and how of our invitation and fix that or any demon cast out (and most of them are very subtle to the point we don't even recognize what they are) will simply come back in or be replaced by another taking the same route.

Think of them as unwanted visitors, squatters, in your home. It does little good to evict them then leave your doors and windows open so they can just come back in when they want to, you have to shut the door behind them as they leave.

This is actually a subject Christians should concentrate on, but almost none do,
Here's a great demon destroying prayer for those situations:

Prayers and Decrees That Break the
Powers of Darkness

Let the Assyrian be broken in my land (Isa. 14:25).
Break in pieces the gates of brass, and
cut the bars of iron (Isa. 45:2).
I break every yoke from off my neck, and I burst
all the bonds in the name of Jesus (Jer. 30:8).
Break them with the rod of iron, and dash them
in pieces like a potter’s vessel (Ps. 2:9).
Break the arm of the wicked (Ps. 10:15).
Break their teeth, O God, in their mouths. Break
the teeth of the young lions (Ps. 58:6).
Let the oppressor be broken in pieces (Ps. 72:4).
Let the arms of the wicked be broken (Ps. 37:17).
Let the horns of the wicked be broken (Dan. 8:8).
Let the kingdoms of darkness be broken (Dan. 11:4).
Let the foundations of the wicked be broken (Ezek. 30:4).
Let the kingdoms of Babylon be broken (Jer. 51:58).
Let all the bows of the wicked be broken (Ps. 37:14).
I break in pieces the horse and the rider (Jer. 51:21).
I break in pieces the chariot and the rider (Jer. 51:21).
I break in pieces the captains and the rulers (Jer. 51:23).
Let Your Word out of my mouth be like a hammer
that breaks the rocks in pieces (Jer. 23:29).
Break down every wall erected by the enemy
against my life (Ezek. 13:14).
I break down every altar erected by the enemy against
my life in the name of Jesus (Hos. 10:2).
Let the idols and images of the land be broken

Here's the classic warrior scripture:

Psalm 91

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

A great protection prayer.

Here's a prayer against demonic possessions, curses, and bondages:

Breaking Curses and Casting Out
Generational Spirits

life in the name of Jesus (Neh. 13:2).
Lord, turn every curse spoken against my
life into a blessing (Neh. 13:2).
I break all generational rebellion that would cause
me to resist the Holy Spirit (Acts 7:51).
I break all curses of death spoken by people in authority
in my nation over my nation in the name of Jesus.
I break curses of death spoken against America by
people from other nations in the name of Jesus.

These verses are inspired Paul's goals or commands for our Christian lives, @Manonfire63, toward which the Holy Spirit gives us power to pursue. However, we need to obey too in the power of Jesus' resurrection (Colossians 3:1).

First, @Edward429451, believers are "in Christ," that is, connected with him, who is the Head of his body, the church.

Second, Jesus says in John 15, that we are dependent on him for our spiritual nourishment, just as a vine's branches are on the vine.

Third, therefore, because Jesus' death takes away the Father's verdict of guilty, so Jesus' resurrection gives us new life through the new birth.

Rom 6:4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

Fourth, Jesus' resurrection is our power for living the new life in Jesus. We need to pray for his divine power to flow into our lives every day in order to do his will and by following Jesus.

I'll buy that. That makes pretty good sense. And when we obey the Lord it's weird what happens. I noticed that when I receive a blessing from the Lord for obedience and so forth, that I am blessing others out of the same blessing. And it occurred to me that scripture says that God and His power will flow through us unto others like a river. So If I didnt bless someone else out of my blessing from the Lord, then I wouldnt be being a "river" would I? I'd be being, a pond. Ponds have no flow and when they sit they go stagnant. So I make it a point to bless others out of every blessing I get, so there is flow to this river!

A question, why do we see so many 3-400+ pound Christians with their gluttony directing every aspect of their life...

Habits are hard to break. I am struggling with my weight too although I'm trying to reduce it. As we age it gets more difficult, or so it seems. I fall short in other areas of my life too. I would describe myself as struggling with sin as opposed to reveling in it, just as the Apostle Paul did. Fortunately, I have placed my faith and trust in my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And although I don't perfectly follow his prescribed path, I know that I am saved by the grace of God. Jesus will fix and transform me. I can't wait!
