We have to have a national flower. A lot of European countries have a national flower. We can't choose the tulip, because that's from Turkey and it was only our not official flower. Now we need an official one. You could vote. I voted for the dandelion, because my rabbits like those best and you see em everywhere. I wonder if it will win.
Do you have a national flower?

The cactus. It's plentiful in this region and perhaps is best at self defense. (rabbits say 'ouch'). One flower that continually fails is the Daisy.

It's a shame, IMHO, that you cannot have the tulip, especially because people actually think of tulips when Holland is mentioned. They don't make such a connection in the case of any other European nation that I can think of.

And I don't think that very many Americans could name the USA national flower, although some might get it correct by simply guessing at popular blooms. Supposedly, it's the rose.

As for the dandelion, I know that it's edible and prolific, but we here think of it as a weed and try to keep it out of our lawns. That's probably unfair to the dandelion that doesn't actually do any harm that I know of.

But what might be in second place for the Netherlands, I can't imagine.

You could also vote for the bush tulip, the yellow one. Have never even seen it.
It had to be a flower that grows here naturally.
