I looked up forums that allow links to Christian music and posted my invitation to come to Jesus . . . am I really self promoting or promoting him? I'm doing this all for free . . . it is an evangelistic mission to spread the love of God.

It doesn't look like you're selling a product, so we'll allow an occasional link, but we don't wished to be spammed.

If I was posting other people's songs would that not be considered spam, but posting songs I wrote, recorded and sang would be considered spam?

I can't speak directly for the admin here but in general the issue isn't about whether you wrote a song but your intention in posting. Sometimes people post something they wrote with the intention to draw traffic to their own site and sell something. Most sites aren't really interested in providing free advertising.
