Reckoning ourselves dead to sin but alive with Christ. Christ, as we know, has the distinction of 2 natures, being 100% of mankind and 100% of the divine nature. In becoming a Christian we have taken on a new nature also. What He is so we will be, but the mirror is very murky. By gazing on Him we see what we are in Him because He is in us. As we soak in what it means to be a Christian we move from glory to glory as His glory reflects in, on and thru us. This thread is about Christian affirmations that the bible says are affirmed in and through Christians as we reckon ourselves dead to the old nature and alive to the new.

Ephesians 2:4-5
But God was merciful! We were dead because of our sins, but God loved us so much that he made us alive with Christ, and God’s wonderful kindness is what saves you.

We are alive with Christ!

Romans 8:2
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

An unveiled spirit to live in communion with God. Our bodies were created as rich containers to hold Him. The old nature is being brought into the realm of the new law, written on a new heart where the gospel believed frees us from the Mosaic law. The Romans 7 experience becomes the Romans 8 experience. As a result the old nature decreases with the new nature increased. It's a progression that is no longer alienated from the life of God.

Christians are free from the law of sin and death!

As Christians we are far from oppression, and fear does not come near!

Isaiah 54:14
In righteousness shall you be established: you shall be far from oppression; for you shall not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near you.

notes fronm barnes-In righteousness shalt thou be established - This is language which is appropriately addressed to a city or commonwealth. The idea is, that it would not be built up by fraud, and rapine, and conquest, as many cities had been, but by the prevalence of justice.

Thou shalt be far from oppressions - That is, thou shalt be far from being oppressed by others. So the connection demands. The Hebrew would bear an active signification, so that it might be read, 'be thou far from oppression,' that is, be far from oppressing others. But the design of the prophet is rather to promise than to command; and the idea is, that they should have no occasion to fear the violence of others anymore.

For it shall not come near thee - This doubtless refers to the security, perpetuity, and prosperity of the church under the Messiah.
1. As the means of thy establishment. This kingdom shall not be set up and settled by fraud or tyranny, as other kingdoms frequently are, but by justice. Or rather,
2. As the effect of the establishment. Thine affairs shall be managed with righteousness, which is the glory and felicity of any society, and not with oppression, as it follows. Justice shall be freely and impartially executed.

Thou shalt be far from oppression; either by thine own governors, or by foreign powers.
Thou shalt not fear; thou shalt neither have any just cause of fear, nor be given up to the torment of fear without cause.
In stability and sureness, so that it will stand forever.

A Christian is born of God, and the evil one does not touch them!

1 John 5:18
We are sure that God’s children do not keep on sinning. God’s own Son protects them, and the devil cannot harm them.

On the basis of the divine birth, because of the seed that dwells within, we don't live in sin. Romans 6:2 What harm the devil devises does not serve it's purposes because of constant vigilance in the new nature. The abiding can be proven by our actual experience in our Christian life. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and are not practicing the truth; we know that Jesus Christ the Son of God has come and has shown us the true God. And because of Jesus, we now belong to the true God who gives eternal life.

Christians are holy and without blame before Him in love

Ephesians 1:4
Before the world was created, God had Christ choose us to live with him and to be his holy and innocent and loving people.

1 Peter 1:16
That’s why the Scriptures say, “I am the holy God, and you must be holy too.”

Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Because Christians are said to be where He is, at the throne of grace, the result of this fellowship is perfect peace in Him. That doesn't mean the storm is not raging around us. It means that Jesus is in the boat with us and He commands that our hearts and minds be still. Out of the heart is all evil and the heart is the source, the thoughts being the issue. When Christ has given His command of "Peace, be still" the weeds that crop up within the mind are no longer cultivated and no longer do we follow after the evil thereof. Instead He teaches us to think upon other things and the evil thoughts find no place in His/our garden.

Christians have the peace of God that passes all understanding

1 John 4:4
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Overcoming false spirits because discernment is of God for us. He gives us the ability to know what kind of spirit is being acted from. The sons of thunder, John and his brother, were not able to discern the spirit that they themselves were acting from when they suggested bolts of fire from heaven to devour those who turned them away, but here is the same John is telling us that becoming a Holy Spirit filled Christian enables one not to make that mistake.

Christians have the Greater One living in us; greater is He Who is in me than he who is in the world!

Psalm 32:1-2
Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

There is a blessedness of forgiveness from the pain and anguish that results from conviction of sin. Today I felt compelled to write a note to my sister admitting my guilt in an old incident that may have been instrumental in our sisterly standoff. She may not even answer but this verse gives me peace of mind.

God doesn't see us the way we see ourselves and He's already paid the ultimate price for all things we have ever done. Christians are His pure bride and to refuse HIS forgiveness is saying His death is not enough for me. Christians must receive His gift of a new day every day!!

Isaiah 53:5
But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed.

Christians have each received a gift to serve!

1 Peter 4:10
Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.

Christ has equipted His body for all good works.
