Chris Pratt, movie and TV celebrity, gave a speech at the MTV awards. Is he subtly expressing Christian faith or is he expressing a different belief system?

"God is real. God loves you. God wants the best for you."

"8. Learn to pray. It's easy. And it's so good for the soul. "

"You are imperfect. You always will be. But, there is a powerful force that designed you that way. And if you're willing to accept that, you will have grace. And grace is a gift. And like the freedom that we enjoy in this country that grace was paid for with somebody's else's blood. Do not forget it. Don't take it for granted."

There are the parts that deal with religion...in case you don't have time to listen :)

It sounds like rules for successful living, which include a belief in God and some of the basics that apply to most of the worlds religions. To do just that could be considered courageous in todays world, but I wouldn't say it was explicitly Christian.

However, when speaking to young people today, it may be most effective to sell them on the idea of God first of all.

I say it is good to see someone willing to voice their beliefs in God in such a public way. We need more of that today

Why didn't he say the name of Jesus?

Good question. Was he being shrewd as a serpent and as innocent as a dove...or was he afraid of the reaction the crowd would have if he said that Jesus gave his blood to pay for our imperfection?
I don't know. I will choose, however, to extend him grace.

It reminds me of a lot of contemporary Christian music on the radio that talks about "him" but can't say His name.

I think at least that it's a start that a star reveals his faith just enough to be on the edge without pushing one way or another. By pushing I mean pushing away each side of beliefs. He introduced the blood of someone for us and for those who don't understand it, it brings about some questions that they might look into. For those who understand it they see another believer giving praise to the one who died for them.

You are imperfect. You always will be. But, there is a powerful force that designed you that way.

Really?

For some reason, I thought man was originally made in God's image.

But what would I know?

What's your point?
Also...what's with the hundreds of equal signs?

He mentions 'Grace' and 'paid for by blood' which is Christian even though he didn't spell it out.

I am not sure that God created man as imperfect even though Adam and the world fell into sin I don't think God made him that way.

He wasn't talking about Adam he was addressing the listeners. God made us, designed us, knowing that we aren't perfect... were we (not Adam) born perfect? If so when are we labeled a sinner? That's Islamic belief btw, that we are born perfect until our first sin.

It was an amusing speech with some content that a Christian can say "amen" to. Why not check to see if he self-identifies as a Christian?

He mentions 'Grace' and 'bought by blood'... sounds like Christian belief to me

Chris Pratt does self identify as a Christian. There is a Christianity Today article about him in which he says he is a Christian, he goes to church, and he believes in God and Jesus etcetera. You can read it if you do a search and click the link :)

So him and Denzel are the only outspoken Christians left in 'Hollywood' :(

I used to look up celebrity religious beliefs. I assumed weird al was an atheist but no he's Christian... Jack Black however is an atheist Jew and the majority of celebrities have turned up as atheistic Jews...
Atheistic Jews... who would have thunk
