Central States Conference Statement Agst. 3ABN and Amazing Facts w/Regards to the Death of Charlie Kirk

OpenTools AI summary: In a somewhat unexpected turn of events, the Christian Satellite Channel (CSC) has released a statement that questions the actions and teachings of 3ABN and Amazing Facts, two significant presences in the Christian broadcasting arena. This declaration has stirred quite the response from followers and churchgoers, reflecting the varied opinions within the religious community.

The discussion on the video serves as a reminder of the importance of unity and mutual understanding within the church. Despite differences in doctrines or teachings, the core message remains clear – to uphold the spirit of community and shared faith. The creators of the video emphasize the power of prayer and introspection in these times.

As the community grapples with this new development, the hope is for a resolution that honors both truth and love. The video's call to prayer and reflection speaks into the heart of the matter – urging believers to seek divine guidance and maintain a spirit of cooperation and peace.

This "leader's" statement on behalf of an entire conference should be broadly and loudly condemned.

In addition, we are very disappointed and disturbed that there are Christian leaders within our own denomination who have fully embraced public figures that hold Christian nationalistic, racist, xenophobic, sexist, and other discriminatory ideologies. Our Conference leadership will study this current phenomenon and reach out to the leaders of specifically Amazing Facts and 3ABN, to ascertain our future official relationships with these organizations. To remain silent after what we have recently seen and read, we strongly believe will make us complicit to sentiments that do not reflect who we are as Central States Conference, and more importantly as bible-believing and practicing Christians.

To many in position speak to quickly and therefore subjectively when they should have set back and looked more deeply.

I don't know about church officials offhand (I'll keep looking) but I know we talked about it a little bit in Sabbath School class this morning (at least the class I was in did as one of the others in our group used to live in the Midwest). Best as anyone could tell, what happened is that several Adventist-oriented groups (3ABN and Amazing Facts) had issued statements of condolence/remembrance to the family of Charlie Kirk and the head of the Central States Conference attacked them for offering said condolences.

Normally, this would've likely never garnered any news anywhere but for the fact that the CSC is one of several Black Adventist Conferences within the broader SDA church, which meant it was going to be covered by someone in the Adventist news sphere at some point. (Far as I can tell both Fulcrum7, a conservatively-oriented Adventist news site, and Spectrum, a more liberal-oriented Adventist news site, have covered this - the linked articles in my opening post.)

Yes, I'm familiar with what happened at the CSC- and I'm shocked and disappointed that the SDA as a whole has not come out and spoken against CSC President Cryston Josiah. Identity politics is his brand and specialty, taking the parable of the lost sheep and twisting it into a BLM chant as the 'lost black sheep' of the family within Christendom. I'll say it again-- it's disgusting.

A fulfillment of prophecy, the Church turning to unsound doctrine in the latter days.

Oh, I can think of why: as a whole, the General Conference is risk-averse to dealing with wayward local conferences (they've had this issue before w/regards to ordination of women - the SDA official position opposes ordination of women - but they've yet to sanction a couple individual conferences over the issue for fear of a potential UMC-GMC style schism.

Leaders like Dr Ben Carson need to step up and speak against the rhetoric from the CSC and Cryston Josiah.

At the very least I'd love to hear a reaction from either the union conference president (Mid-America if I remember correctly) or, if necessary, from Erlon Kohler himself (a/k/a the newly-elected GC President) over this.
