It SEEMS no one is recognizing its independence. It's been some days and not one country has recognized it.

Unless there is some mass movement by other countries to do that SOON, I think the declaration is dead in the water. For now, anyway.

No doubt. I believe that the Spanish government has started arresting the Catalan leaders.

One may hope, but who knows?

Arresting elected leaders is not helping. Spain needs to back away from the arrests and start serious and significant negotiations before they create a civil war.
