There's lots of scriptures about the still small voice of God.
1 Kings 19:11-12, Isaiah 30:20-21, John 14:26, Jeremiah 7:23 I've heard a few Pastors preach on it also. We have to develop the sensitivity of the awareness of the presence of God and His voice within us and that is not always easy to do.
Can you hear the small voice of God within you?
I have heard it many times and it is unmistakable. With me, it started with learning that, Prayer isn't a monologue, it is a Dialogue. So instead of, Lord, I need this this and this and bless my kids and my family, Amen., it's more like Lord? Pause and listen! I have needs of this or that, will you help me with it? Pause and listen! Give Him a chance to answer! I couldn't hear His voice, sometimes my brain sayid something and that aint right, couldn't be! So after awhile of doing that and tryig, I got the bright idea to, don't say Amen after my morning prayer and then get up and go to work and walk away from Him for the day! Bad idea! So I started inviting the Lord to go to work with me, and I would talk to him all day in the truck while driving to the different addresses of customers. When I got to the Customers house, I went in alone (?) and left Jesus in the truck? Never gave it a 2nd thought, I had to be professional and all worldly for the customer. Until I had trouble one day with a unit and was baffled, I got the urge to pray to the Lord for help, then I realized, I left Him in the truck! (ouch). I invited Him and He helped me solve my problem...and I never left Him in the truck again!
So I'm driving down the road with my Friend who sticks closer than a Brother talking to Him, and I seen that some guy in a car next to me saw me talking and looked at me like I was a nut, lol. And I got embarrassed some for "talking to myself", and that was when the Lord said, you have to become as a little child...was that me or the Lord? What do children do? They play! So I made it a game and when kids play games, the rules are the rules and true, the floor is Lava! So what I did was when I spoke to the Lord, I would pause and listen and I always took the first thing that came into my head and that was God speaking to me, my answer from Him.
Now, sometimes it was a scripture, and sometimes it was like a "thought" and sometimes it sounded like my Conscience! But does what was said contradict scripture in any way? Hmm, it does not. and this game went on for 2 weeks? and it seemed like I was getting real answers from the Lord! I was hearing His still small voice! Fairly soon right after that I noticed that, this voice within me that sounds like my own thoughts...doesn't speak or think the way I do! I could discern the difference just by paying attention! He has a different vocabulary and way of speaking that is His own. Actually He speaks in real life to me very much like how He talks in scripture.
I also learned over time that it isn't as easy to hear Him now as it it was before and I know why. I slacked on how much I was reading scripture and I have been watching more secular entertainment than I used to. So the more world I intake interferes with my ability to hear the still small voice of God.
Do you think I'm nuts? Can you hear the still small voice of Good?
