Curious if anyone here has ever given up, or tried to give up caffeine and can list alternatives that give them a boost of energy, mental clarity, etc.

I'm aware of several alternatives but am looking for testimonials/experiences for those who have tried them.

Enough sleep and working from home, not coming home at 8 pm after 1,5 hour bus and train. I hardly drink coffee anymore. I have to go to work 1 day a week now and that's when I drink coffee, but at home I don't need it.

Up until this year when my thyroid hormones have been in the wrong direction, meaning I now need caffeine to stay away some days, I was only drinking decaf coffee. It takes a long time to get used to the taste because it's more bitter. I turned to sugar to help me have energy and other high carb foods during those years. Of course, that's not good for anyone wanting to lose weight. I limit my sweets now and have upped my caffeine intake again but am hoping to finish losing the weight I want and then turn back to decaf coffee again (still has a small amount of caffeine in it.

I don't know of any other foods that give energy besides carbs. Sorry.

Things I know of that give a boost of energy that aren't caffeine are either prescription-only or outright illegal. I assume they work because people use them but can't comment from experience.

I've heard that things like ginseng and guarana help but I never tried them so can't comment if they work.

Grape sugar. Took that as a teen to stay awake when I had to study all night and do an exam the next day.
