Hi Guys,

My name is Emily Jayne, I was diagnosed with BPD nearly 18 months ago, before this I lead a chaotic lifestyle, getting in trouble often, relationships a strain, drugs, violence & crime.. Since then I have turned my world around. I engage in therapy, I have a partner & small dog to focus on & for the first time in forever. I'm finding myself. My aim now is to fully recover & help others like myself on their very own BPD journey. People like you. I also work hard to try and spread awareness of Borderline Personality Disorder by using the power of social networking..

I don't know if you have ever heard of DBT, but it is a counseling model specifically for people with BPD. You may want to look around see if you can find someone who specializes in it.

All my life I have been told I'm a borderliner. Well simply don't keep crossing my borderlines anymore or you'll regret it. I've had more than enough of that label my ex tried to push on me. Do everything mr says and let yourself be treated like a doormat or you're a borderliner. No. Just no. I'll defend my borderlines better next time so I don't have to flip out from anger. The psychiater said no he drove me nuts. I love that psychiater.

People who are borderline tend to have very hot and cold relationships. The person you have a relationship with is either good or bad and no in between. They also have an intense fear of abandonment that drives them to fear the person they care about will abandon them. As a result, they will often attempt to control the situation by abandoning the other person first.

I personally have done dbt twice. The first time worked for a while then i settled back into chaos. Now im doing it again, but a more intense version; the most intense that is offered.

I am diagnosed with borderline, bipolar, post-traumatic stress, major depression, and anxiety disorders. I started dbt because my self harming techniques were out of control, and obviously not helpful. It a big mess of conflict, but with therapy and most importantly God, i have been able to deal.

If you struggle maybe ask your therapist about dbt, and if they think you may benefit.

They will teach you skills to help you deal with the chaos, it may be a long road, but it is worth it.

May I ask when you settled back into chaos what part of the therapy did not work for you and what would have been better for you to have done? Thanks!

It was about a year or so after that i went back into chaos. I talked to my therapist and they discontinued that dbt and retooled it. Offering a more intense one and a less intense. The success rate was not what they had expected from that dbt in the years they did it.

Now i am doing a bit of an odd dbt course because of my work schedule but it is one on one, where the other was a group session for 6 months. What i am doing is usually 1 group and 1 one on one each week for 6 months, but my work schedule doesn't allow for it.

I worked about 4 years of my nursing career in psychiatry. I am going to recuse myself from this discussion because I have some controversial thoughts about Bipolar disorder.

Partially like psychoanalysis. Yes you are to be conscious of your emotions and thoughts... i think no matter what you need that to br able to help yourself through..... but also learning ways to help gain control. A lot of stuff like temperature; putting some ice cokd water in a bag against your eyes while you bend over and hold your breathe for 20 seconds and continuing to do so for 2 min on and off (this will kick in your bodies survival instincts and slows down your heart rate allowing you to slow down) this will help you gain a bit of control on the chaos your feeling.

I've been practicing this. It does work.

I can write out a few things if you want to try them.

I hope you don't mind if I go kinda pychoanalitical on you myself. Because what I've found is that emotion and thoughts unbalanced are a large part of the chaos I avoid. When they balance life is easy. I think emotions only have a handful of names to them that are blanketed in memories, mostly harmful. It's llike learning how to rethink the past by giving yourself credit for the way you've looked after yourself thru all of it.
