Have any of you read a book or seen a film that made a deep impression ... a film or book about a mythic world and mythic events?

I remember being a fan of Ray Bradbury when I was younger/pre-teen. His stories seemed to spur the imagination for me. I recall 'Farenheit 451' being a favorite, but I don't recall the whole back-story. May be time to revisit it.

I saw the film but I've never seen or read the book. I may see if I can find a copy.

Alice in Wonderland did it for me when I was younger!

I remember reading Till we have faces by C S Lweis - it is a retelling of the Myth of Psyche and Cupid. I believe that Lewis thought it his best work.

The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings for me. The Narnia Chronicles have also been books I have read many times.

I've read a great many of Isaac Asimov's novels and some of his non-fiction. Most were read in my teens :) I Liked them, I wonder why only a few have been made into films?
