A friend of mine said he'd seen Amish teenagers having drag races in their buggies. I find it a curious concept, even having seen the buggies sharing the roads with everything else.

Racing and competition is part of human nature (maybe a fallen part) so teens are likely to engage in it even if they have been discouraged from it all their lives.

Do you think that smart phones ought to be banned because texting and playing games like pokemon while driving leads to many deaths on the roads and no amount of warnings and laws stops people texting while driving.

Maybe a "stupid phone" could be used as a substitute and a second device for apps like pokemon could be created. The second device could be engineered so that it turned off when inside a car. The stupid phone could be bluetooth tethered in the car and only work in hands-free mode. Maybe something like that would save lives.
Ban cars. The cars do the damage. Not the phone. Lol

Indeed, we discussed that and the likelihood of teenagers going out of control and having horse drawn carriage races! Ban transport of all kinds including running! :p

I don't think they should ban them. I like having one and never use it while driving. I don't understand why people have to use them while driving and cause accidents; it's crazy!

I watched a quick video yesterday of a guy on a motorcycle yelling at a lady who had been on her cell phone and swerving. She said she was using MapQuest. My nephew uses his phone for MapQuest too and that can have its pros and cons. I prefer my GPS that has a loud voice and a bigger screen than my cell phone. Plus it sits in a nice spot where a glance is all I need.

I suppose that I look forward to newer technology to replace phones and GPS equipment in the cars. My husband's Jeep has some cool features but they are still distractions.

I look up the journey before I go to the car and print any tricky bits for reference. I only read the prints after stopping the car. It always works for me.
