Hard to say really.

Once they turn 18 it's not like you can stop them if they want to fly. Under the age of 18 it would depend on their maturity and also on circumstance. I don't know I'd want a 12-year-old flying around the world on an unaccompanied vacation but that same 12-year-old might need to travel (using unaccompanied minor programs) for a family emergency. In a regular nuclear family it's unlikely they'd need to go alone but when extended/blended families are concerned it may be that they'd want to travel to see, say, a biological parent when a step-parent is unable or unwilling to accompany them.

I would say 18 but even in todays world I wouldn't trust anyone with my kid. (Even if they were an adult)

I think it depends on the maturity of the kid. I have known some 15 year old that I would trust to fly alone. There are some 30 year olds that probably aren't mature enough

Probably not until they're in their teens and probably not a young girl at all until she looks and is able to carry herself as a fully grown adult.

It would make a great deal of difference where they were going and who, if anyone, would be there to meet them when they get off the plane.

Also, I'd instruct them to make certain that they are the very last person to get off the plane. Perhaps even to pretend like they're nervous and ask a flight attendant (a female one) to walk with them off the plane.
