Assume every other driver out there is a moron. If you have a green light and they have a red light assume someone will jump the light, assume people will ignore stop signs and speed limits. Drive accordingly.

The onramp for the freeway/highway is meant to help you get up to speed so you can safely merge. Waiting until you are on the freeway to get up to speed can be unsafe for you and other drivers
