They wanted to be their own gods and have their own will instead of doing the Lord's will. So they turned against Him and disobeyed His command.

God said they could do pretty much anything they wanted except eat the forbidden fruit, and they ate the forbidden fruit. So there was only one rule in existence, and they broke it.

According to Rom 4:15 & Rom 5:13, sins don't go on the books when no rule has
been broken.

For example: God took Eve to task for persuading her husband to taste the forbidden
fruit, but He couldn't indict her for that because up till then it wasn't forbidden to cause
someone to stumble.

God took Adam to task for following his wife's lead. But there again God couldn't
indict him for that because up till then it wasn't forbidden to marginalize God.

Both Eve and Adam sinned against God in eating of the fruit.

(Gen. 3:13) "...And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat."

(Gen. 3:12) "...she gave me of the tree, and I did eat."

(Gen. 2:17) "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

So, both were guilty of sinning against God. Both died that day. Eve first.

That is incorrect.

Adam and Eve were under law. (Gen. 2:17) "Thou shalt not eat"

As a result of Adam sinning against God, sin entered the world and death passed upon all men born of Adam and Eve. (Rom. 5:12)

Once Adam sinned, that law, "Thou shalt not eat", was done away. Man was now a sinner. The earth was under a curse. (Gen. 3:17) Woman would in sorrow bear children. (3:16) Man would have to labor to obtain food. (3:19) Man was ousted from the garden. (3:23-24) Access to the garden was denied forever. (3:24) In other words, everything changed. That law in the garden was no more as man had no access to it and that is where the tree of knowledge of good and evil were located, as well as the tree of life.

Now Adam and Eve and their posterity would be sinners born under no law. Their conscience was now awakened since they sinned. (Gen. 3:22) They now knew good and evil. Thus man now walked only by his conscience. Which of course would help bring about the flood of Noah's day.

Self-centered rebellion against their Creator's rulership, and all humans have followed their lead unless Jesus rescues them.

True, it's the people who are still like Adam & Eve that don't think they need God and His salvation.
