Have you ever accidentally locked yourself out of your house?

How did you get back in?

I can honestly say I don't think as an adult I have ever locked myself out, but as a child I did just once when my mum went shopping leaving me with my brother and I wanted to go out to play shut the door and he forgot the key so I said that's ok the window is open and you can get in. Well that was a bad idea he tried it climbing over a hand rail to the window ceil and fell down on to the steps below and so I run to our neighbour for help just then our mum come back oops did I get into trouble or what lol got grounded again for a week.i was always in trouble as a kid but didn't care..

A couple of years ago I went for a walk with my wife. When we got back home I took the keys out of my pocket and found.... the keys to my friend's house. Oops.

I tried to pick the lock but didn't have the tools accessible to make anything to do it properly. In the end I called a friend who has a spare key. It was a while before she could come out and help us because she was busy, but she did. Now I not only double-check I have the right key before we go out but also took the precaution of having a spare key hidden away just in case we ever find ourselves in that position again.

When I was first married I locked myself out of my new house twice and my mom lived across town and had a spare key so she was able to come over and save the day.

When we moved to our second home, whenever I went out to the pool or to the backyard, I would take my spare key with me. We had a hook on the pool deck I would place it on and the reason I took it outside was in case my daughter would lock me out.

At this house, I almost always carry a key when I go outside. It's a good habit since no one nearby has a spare.

I did once. I was in a hurry to get to an appointment and forgot to grab the keychain that had my house keys on it. Thankfully, I have a spare house key hidden somewhere on my property so it was easy to get back in.
