Troops of Greek Antiochus Ephiphanes desolated the Temple and did away with the daily sacrifice on Kislev 25, 167 B.C. (December 25th).

Think about the setting for this all to go down...
Luke 21:20 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
20 However, when you see Yerushalayim surrounded by armies, then you are to understand that she is about to be destroyed.

Antiochus then set up an image of Jupiter (Zeus) on a horn (wing) of the altar resembling himself. He then offered up a pig on the altar. Daniel 9:27 says "on the wing of the altar, will be an abomination that desolates."

Troops of Roman General Titus desolated the Temple and did away with the daily sacrifice on the 9th of Av, 70 A.D. Again it was the same setting as it was in the time of Antiochus. The armies surrounded Jerusalem. They then set up their Roman Eagle standard as well as a graven image of Caesar who claimed that he was a reincarnation of Zeus (born December 25th). Daniel 9:27 says "upon the wing of the abomination (Roman eagle) shall come one who desolates."

Matthew 24:28 "Wheresoever the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered.
Eagles don't gather around a carcass they haven't killed.

If we have a third temple built, will we see history repeat itself. Different players, same game plan. I believe we are going to see a repeat... of this on a much larger scale in the end times.

By the way, Constantine was so impression by his vision that he made the changes to the shields of his soldiers and banners preceding their march from golden eagles to the standard of the cross. (Eusebius, Life of Constantine, p. 545).

The abomination of desolation is a Hebrew term that many Christians don't understand. It is defined by the placing .... something abominable in God's sight.. in His place of worship, which is set up in the Holy of Holies on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem...

Matthew 24:15
When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

While there was a fulfillment in 70AD.. in which the believers fled before the Jerusalem took its final stages of tear down right to and including the temple...

The final setting up of ....Something totally abominable in God's place like the antichrist, the man of sin, will declare himself God in the rebuilt temple, placing himself as God on earth and demanding worship from the world.

Mark 13:14
But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judea flee to the mountains:

Daniel wrote of the abomination of desolation in several places. In fact, there is another time in history that this event has happened, although not to the specifications in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and 2 Thessalonians 2, and almost two centuries before Yeshua walked the earth as a man. Chanukkah is the Jewish celebration of the re-dedication of the temple after the abomination of desolation caused by the Syrian king, Antiochus IV Epiphanes in 165 BC. The story of Chanukkah can be found in the books of 1 and 2 Maccabees.

So the third time will be the winner..

Daniel 8:11-14
Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of the sanctuary was cast down. And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practiced, and prospered. Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

That is 3 1/2 years.. and I think the story can be picked up in Rev 11. For in Rev 11, the story picks up again with two parties, one in the temple worshiping and getting sealed, while the other party is in the outer court and getting slaughtered. The two witnesses appear on the scene and I believe go face to face challenge with the son of perdition as he stands where he ought not.

In Daniel 8:1-10, he has the vision of the ram with two horns and the he goat with a notable horn. Horns represent kings in Bible prophecy and this is the story of Alexander the Great conquering the Medo-Persian Empire. When the he goat's notable horn is broken, fall of Alexander the Great, four notable horns replace it. His four generals divided his kingdom upon his death.

The one magnifying himself in verses 11-14 is from one of those generals, Antiochus IV Epiphanes. His abomination of desolation in 167 BC led to the rededication of the temple 2,300 days later celebrated today as Chanukkah. From the beginning of the persecution of the Jews by Antiochus in 171 BC to the rededication was 2,300 days!

I think these two tie together... Holy Place and Sanctuary being interchangeable.

Matthew 24:15 "Whenever then ye may be seeing the abomination of the desolation, the being declared thru Daniel the prophet having-stood in a holy place (the one-reading let him be minding/understanding)"
[Daniel 11:31/Mark 13:14]

2 Thess 2:4 The one opposing and being lifted upon all being said god or venerated, so that him into the Sanctuary/naon <3485> of the God as a god to be seated, showing himself that he is a god

The sanctuary is separated into three sections, the outer court area, where our Lord did a lot of temple teachings and it is also the area where the lambs were slaughtered in sacrifice, and the priests washed themselves before entering into the temple itself. There has been some contention as to which of the curtains was rent that fateful day.

Question: How would anyone know the holy to most holy curtain was rent, since it was only seen by priests and not the general public. Are they going to tell and lose their business?

The curtain to the Holy temple itself would be visible to both the public and the priests and all in to see the "Passover" lamb slaughter would have seen this curtain being torn from the top down. "Passover" Lamb amid all the other lambs scheduled for sacrifice was done with great pomp and circumstance. It was selected four days for its perfection.

The sacrifice of the "Passover" Lamb was done exactly at the same moment that Yeshua died on the cross. I wouldn't even be surprised to learn that that lamb escaped the knife that day, as the sun darkened, the earthquake hit, and the curtain tore down with a great tearing sound. I understand that the curtain itself was huge and thick.

I find it interesting that the abomination of desolation is always mentioned with the stopping of the daily sacrifice. It seems that the taking away of the daily sacrifice always comes before an abomination of desolation when mentioned in scripture.

As evidenced in history, the daily sacrifices won't be carried out by the Jews if an idol is set up in the Holy of Holies until it is cleansed. So I believe, regardless of time, anytime the abomination of desolation is set up, the daily sacrifice stops even if it isn't forcibly stopped.

I think we can look deeper into this and see something else going on.. One earth the Lord revealed to Ezekiel what has been going on in the Holy Place in the earthly temple and said “cry and sigh for the abominations committed within.” God in His mercy has an atoning work to do to cleanse the Holy Place of wickedness. "He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, seest you what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn thee yet again, and you shalt see greater abominations.”

So how can the sacrifice services cease in heaven? How about the world believes a lie that causes no one to worship, repent, and pray to God in heaven? Would services in heaven stop?

Dan 12:5 I heard and did not understand, so I said, ‘My Lord, what will be the outcome of these things?’ He said, ‘Go, Daniel, for these words are SECRET AND SEALED to the TIME OF THE END. Many will be purified and purged and refined; the wicked will act wickedly and none of the wicked will understand; but the knowledgeable will understand. From the time the regular offering is abolished, and an appalling abomination is set up -- it will be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Happy the one who waits and reaches one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.

There are several important factors in these three dates,
-they are end of days time frames
-it is the time when the abomination of desolation is set up
-it marks the end of time for this world
-Yom Kippur is the only time when "the adversary/Azazeal" is represented in feast services
- Fall feasts as seen in Revelation unfolding with each seal opened and each trumpet sounding.

Dan 9:27 (KJV) And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Let's break this down...

"confirm covenant" means that it already existed and was just verified.

Heb 9:16
For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

"covenant" From H1262 (in the sense of cutting (like H1254) a deal made by passing between pieces of flesh.

Gen 15:17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces. 18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

Yeshua was sacrificed between the two thieves (pieces of flesh) to renew the covenant according to tradition of how the covenants were made.

many for one week; He was confirming the existing covenant for 7000 years = 1 week.

Psalm 90:4 For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

in the midst of the week; Yeshua came before the 4000 year mark in the midst of the week;.

he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease; He was the sacrifice. Veil was torn to indicate these services were no longer required.

overspread of abominations; I think we can all agree there is an overspreading of abominations going on, and the temple was desolate by 70 AD. I think the overspread has yet to reach the overwhelming "desolations." Yeshua said that the Abomination of Desolation would occur as spoken of by the prophet Daniel.

Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

determined shall be poured upon the desolate; A future Yom Kippur fulfillment indicating this part is yet to come.

Daniel 12:11 And from the time that the daily (H8548) [sacrifice] shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

sacrifice; was not present in the original Hebrew text.

Daily; (H8548) From an unused root meaning to stretch; properly continuance (as indefinite extension); but used only (attributively as adjective) constant (or adverbially constantly); elliptically the regular (daily) sacrifice: – alway (-s), continual (employment, -ly), daily, ([n-]) ever (-more), perpetual.

Psalm 141:2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

Did you know that Orthodox Jews today pray daily at the Temple Mount at those times?

What if this was to happen and the daily prayers at the Temple Mount and Western Wall ceased? Could the daily sacrifice; that Daniel was speaking of in Daniel 12:11 be prayer at the Temple Mount that will be taken away?
