I haven't had a landline since we moved into our home 8 years ago. There really is no use for it because I don't get many calls.

I still have a landline phone. I live in a very rural area and the reception for a cell phone is spotty at best. Plus living alone, if I were to lose/break my cell phone I would have no way to call anyone in case of an emergency.

Yes, it is more of a voip phone. Why? Where we lived before we did have a landline. I got into a rollover accident and when I went to call my husband, his cell phone was in the car. I was able to call the landline and he then came to where the accident occurred. Much better than the police or someone come knocking at the door.

I don't have a home phone or landline. I have unlimited minutes and texts on my iPhone, and this suffices. Landlines are a bit outdated as if you're out and about and the phone goes off, you might miss a very important phone call, so that's why smart phones are the best out of the two.

Most of the calls we get on our landline are political canvassers wanting to speak to the previous occupant. In fairness it is only 14 years since she left.
I still keep it because it gets better reception than the cellphone and because enough people know it as a primary contact number it's easier to just keep it rolling than update everybody and hope I got them all. I'm in the process of converting it to a VOIP number so it doesn't cost anything to maintain it. It's a tediously slow process but dealing with media/internet companies seems to be designed to be as infuriating as possible.
