How comfortable would a $60,000 USD per year, salary be in your area?

I could get by. It's not ideal, but it would be manageable, I suppose.

Where I live...

$60K would work IF you're single, collecting a fairly large social security check each month and own your own home with no mortgage.

For a single person, okay, especially if he or she doesn't have to pay on a mortgage. We recognize that different people have different ideas about what is comfortable, but this income level won't allow for much that's out of the ordinary.

That's a pretty decent wage around here and for those who know how to budget, it even leaves some to put away for a rainy day....depending on whether you rent or own and how much your mortgage is.

Economic equality.... the centerpiece of Socialism and Communism....

But I think there's been a paradigm shift in our thinking: From equality of opportunity to equality of outcome. And this gives rise to the Leftist economic view. Some seem to think everyone should get some amount of annual income (regardless of anything - just cuz they breath) - maybe $60K per year (but why not $100K or $250K - wouldn't that be better?). I don't know.... Seems to ME the answer lies more in equal opportunity - education for all, blind hiring (not based on color or gender, etc.), pay for outcome.
