I used to be like those, but even on my most miserable days I don't feel depressed like I used to, I just count my blessings and try not to be anxious over anything.
The word gives me strength in this particular area, I forget what chapter or verse but I remember reading something along the lines of "dont be anxious/dont worry today about tomorrow, tomorrow will bring its own problems" ... something like that, it reminds me of having peace in the now and not letting the future hinder me from enjoying the present life.
No more misery ever since God intervened and redeemed me from the wilderness
