It is clear that the man's works will be tested by fire. Those that are pleasing to God "gold, silver, precious stones" will come through the fire. Those works that are of man "wood, hay, straw" will be consumed.

The rewards we receive in heaven are based on the works we do here and now.

Our salvation is not in question but our rewards are.

That's what I've been told as well concerning those verses.

Also, the pleasing we do is because we have faith in the Savior, apart from faith, we don't please God.
