A Texas man is facing scrutiny after he dressed as the Grinch and held up a sign that read “Santa is fake, Jesus is real" outside a local elementary school.

Earlier this week, David Grisham dressed up as the Dr. Seuss character and held up the poster while standing in front of Sleepy Hollow Elementary School in Amarillo, Texas.

In a video posted on YouTube, Grisham is approached by an adult male outside the school while in costume. “You shouldn’t lie to children,” he can be heard saying, before the man grabs and rips his sign, then throws it to the ground.

Do you see anything wrong with the message on his sign? If yes, explain what's wrong.

A better way to proclaim the Gospel is to form relationships with people, not shout from the streets or hold up signs. I think the guy wanted attention :(

Just like Elf. You're sitting on a throne of lies!

Or this guy:

There are better ways to share the Gospel.
On the other hand at least he does something. This guy. The grinch that's just nonsensical.

Kids can be taught about Santa and Jesus during the Christmas season. This guy was a jerk and took some of the magical wonderment out of Christmas for those kids.

Good. I would have done the same if I was him. Enough of these idiotic lies we've been telling children for centuries! They were influenced by the evil one.

They shouldn't teach kids lies especially when other lies are strongly punished. 😔

I remember, growing up in the US, in Christian (protestant) churches, attending services through the Christmas season the wonder and reverence of this time. Especially at Christmas. Alongside that, was the Santa lies, writing letters to the North Pole, and leaving out cookies and milk near the chimney.

When I learned that Santa was a lie, it was probably the first time I ever questioned my parent's integrity. Why would they lie to me? The same source (my parents and grown ups in general) were also responsible for teaching me about Jesus and how lying was a sin. Naturally, as the two were intertwined, I wondered if the Santa lie was the only lie I had been told.

My parent's response was "it was fun". Fun being - they got to influence my behavior with some false beliefs they knew were false, breaking a commandment while also teaching that it was wrong to lie. I eventually discerned between the Santa lie and church belief, but I don't see how any child could not wonder presented with this duplicity.

Children's stories and cartoons are a lie, but that's cause it's fictional stories, for instance, The Smurfs don't really exist.
