    A skill everyone should learn

Learning how to think. It seems more and more people want to be told what to think rather than learning how to assess information and figure stuff out for themselves. So many people seem to just listen to their preferred talking heads on TV and assume every word that comes out of it is...

The greatest thing about your house

It's going to be remodeled the way we want it to be. Aside from removing structural walls anything else is a viable option. Even a couple of structural walls might end up coming down, although that's a job I'd pay someone else to do.

What do you do with old meds?

I'm not sure how tearing a perfectly good page out of a Bible to roll a spliff has anything at all to do with throwing away a worn out Bible but, you know, whatever. If you don't feel comfortable throwing away a book once it's worn out feel free to reserve a space somewhere for a collection of...

    The loudest noise

Probably one of the thrash metal bands I saw playing in the 80s.

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

I got my upstairs lights connected to the circuit dedicated to upstairs lights. My focus is now on the next room to be completely gutted and rebuilt. I'm combining it with an adjacent closet that's very long and narrow, to the point it's all but worthless. So far the wall between the two is down...

What do you do with old meds?

Sure, you want to be comfortable with what you are doing. I genuinely don't understand why you wouldn't be comfortable disposing of a worn out book. If you find it so disturbing I'd just suggest you make sure you aren't making a lifeless book into an idol. The words are holy, not the paper they...

    Driver habits

As a rule anything that looks like someone is oblivious to the fact that there are other people using the same road. You know, that term "public" in "public road" is a bit of a clue... As Strav said, the ones who race through heavy traffic dodging and weaving like something out of the Fast and...

What do you do with old meds?

Why does it seem wrong? You read the book, you read it enough that it's worn out, you bought another one. If you can't bring yourself to throw it in the trash give it to a local thrift shop. Just be aware that if it's worn out they might throw it in the trash. If it helps I don't think...

What do you do with old meds?

Why can't you throw an old Bible in the trash? I personally haven't done it because I mostly use a digital Bible, but don't see why someone shouldn't throw away their Bible when they replace it with a new one.

Is observing Lent a good idea?

I don't particularly observe it but wouldn't say it's a matter of "should/shouldn't" - if people want to give something up as a reminder then more powe to them.

    Genealogy in Matthew

I'm not sure how this is relevant, but maybe it's true.

What do you do with old meds?

That leads people to dump them in the trash or flush them down the toilet.

When is my curse going to be broken?

One other thought, be aware that different people use different standards to count as "in a relationship" In my university days I was frequently surrounded by girls but wasn't "in a relationship" with any of them. They were friends - platonic friends - but people who casually observed could...

    Should married Christians wear rings?

Many (most?) people do. My wife wears her engagement ring, wedding ring and eternity ring all together on the same finger. I haven't worn my wedding ring for a time because it's so loose and I can't find a local jeweler I trust to resize it.

What do you do with old meds?

The local pharmacy has a dropoff point. Not that I use it, I use virtually no medications and what I do use is over-the-counter stuff.

    Genealogy in Matthew

Obviously not enough evidence to convince the Jews though, right? Or perhaps the Jews don't accept some of the things we accept as being true.

    Genealogy in Matthew

If it were as simple as that I suspect the Jews would have accepted Jesus by now. I'm not an expert on what the various Jewish groups believe but can't help thinking that Jesus being one of untold thousands of people descended from David, in and of itself, doesn't prove anything about him at all.

    Fight or Flee?

As a civilian the best course of action would be to act as if I were fleeing but then to fight in a less conventional manner. There's no point me standing with the kind of rifle available to civilians expecting to make much difference against an invading army. But improvised devices and...

    You're sick of hearing

I'm sick of hearing anything coming out of High Lord Forki-tongue's mouth. I'm sick of hearing endless blather about how we have to take covid so seriously and suspend normality until someone in an ivory tower somewhere deems it safe.

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

I had a rethink of the wiring plan because I didn't feel like pulling apart some tight wiring in the unfinished room. So I fed the cable from the finished room into the ceiling box of the closet light and ran a cable from there to the location for the new switch. The cubby area has no exterior...
