10-year-old girl travels to Indiana for abortion

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-62158357 There are probably other links. This one says she may have been 9 when she was raped.

Unborn child counted as a passenger?

How do you figure that? If the fetus is a person there are two people in the car. If the fetus is not a person there is one person in the car. A mannequin isn't a person, so if a person is in a car with six mannequins there is still only one person in the car. Furthermore there is no dispute...

    Who made America god?

What an epic response. All I needed to confirm that engaging with you any further is a waste of my time.

Unborn child counted as a passenger?

The law about HOV might not do that but the question of whether the driver is alone is fundamentally a question of whether the fetus is a person or not. As I understand it you can't use the HOV lane if you have mannequins filling every free seat - you need people. Real, living people. If the...

You don’t see kids doing anymore

It's probably down to the general neighborhood. Where I lived in the city was a street where a load of people knew each other so the kids knew each other and parents knew who was who and what was what. In more rural areas it's more noticeable if strangers are in the area. In the city I didn't...

    Who made America god?

Who said you had to be god to do business or not based on your preferences? It's pretty simple - we trade with you if you meet our requirements. No deification required. I don't shop at certain places because I don't like some aspect of the company. It doesn't make me god, it merely means I...

You don’t see kids doing anymore

I think the whole "stranger danger" got blown out of proportion (from what I gather kids are far more likely to be abused by people they know than by strangers, even though very occasionally we do see horrific crimes where kids are abducted and never seen again). Throw in an increasing sense...

You don’t see kids doing anymore

I guess it depends on the area. Where I used to live, in a suburban setting, the local kids would play together. Now I live in a more rural area and only yesterday I was out for a walk and saw a couple of kids playing. One of them, I guess aged around 5, was very keen to tell us there was a...

Unborn child counted as a passenger?

It seems like a creative way to test whether the unborn is a human or not. Chances are we'll still see the law defining Schrodingers Fetus, that is either human or not-human depending on the thoughts of the mother. Clearly it's not the intention of the HOV lane but of course what matters is...

How many Bots do you think are on Twitter?

I suspect a lot more than Twitter would care to admit. That said, even if they win and manage to get the $1bn breakup fee from Musk he'll still win because their share price has tanked and he can buy it for much less money. The only real win for Twitter is if they can force Musk to honor the...

10-year-old girl travels to Indiana for abortion

Sure, I think I've been quite clear in that I'm broadly opposed to abortion but under some circumstances accept it is the best of a bunch of bad options. You really don't need to explain the alternatives to an extreme either/or, given I make no secret of being somewhere between the two extremes...

10-year-old girl travels to Indiana for abortion

The fact this 10-year-old rape victim apparently has to travel out of state to terminate the pregnancy shows there are clearly some out there who would forbid abortion even in extreme cases. I don't personally know people who believe that but these laws suggest they are out there.

    Business Feedback

The thing that annoys me is when you can make contact through an online form but then get an email reply from a noreply address so you can't even respond to it. If they didn't answer your question you don't get to rephrase it, about all you can do is go back to the form and try again. Still, it...

10-year-old girl travels to Indiana for abortion

I hear what you're saying, I'm still not sure that it's helpful to consider this as a matter of two sides, given the tendency for things to turn into oversimplified "yes" or "no" questions when many people on both sides see it in shades of gray. If you're talking about two sides, which side...

10-year-old girl travels to Indiana for abortion

Since both sides seem to span a range from rational positions to rabid howling I'm not sure the question of what "each side" wants is even relevant.

10-year-old girl travels to Indiana for abortion

I'm not entirely sure that's fair. It seems to me some on one side wants abortion on demand without restrictions and some on the other side want outright bans without exceptions. Neither stance seems to survive real world situations very well.
