What do you do on rainy days?

I am currently reading a book called In Search of Christian Freedom written by a gentleman (I think he may be dead now) who was a member of the highest authority in the organisation of Jehovah's witnesses. He was expelled from that organisation, shunned, and yet he did not respond with bitter...

    Freedom

Christ set us free, so that we should remain free. ... what matters then is faith working through love. You began your race well; who came to obstruct you and stop you obeying the truth? [Galatians 5:1-7] Freedom, like faith, love, and truth, is an essential part of true Christianity. Where...

    Age of legal maturity.

Whatever is in the holy scriptures about the matter. 20 for the army is reasonable - in Australia it is 18 but joining is voluntary drinking is 18 too and voting also. I guess in ancient Israel voting wasn't a big issue, and drinking probably was quite young.

    Shunning

Some Christian groups practise various forms of shunning for former members. Some people who are members of Christian groups will shun even if their group does not explicitly teach it. I've seen books and handbooks that mention this passage as the reason for shunning: As I have written to you in...

    Is it faith and works?

Demons have πίστις and the faithful have πίστις this is not a case of πίστις being not-πίστις at the same time. πίστις is πίστις for both. The πίστις of demons is without good works because their works are evil and constantly so. The πίστις of the faithful is accompanied by good works because...

    Is it faith and works?

Saint James writes Thus even faith, if it does not have works, is dead, in and of itself. Now someone may say: "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without works! But I will show you my faith by means of works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. But the demons...

    Is it faith and works?

Saint Paul writes "For we judge a man to be justified by faith, without the works of the law." and saint James writes "Do you see that a man is justified by means of works, and not by faith alone?". Both men are writing of being made just. Both create a context of how we (human beings) perceive...
