    My hippy moment :P

I like some more recent songs too. This one is from the 1980s but the version in the video is from the 2000s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Az2BvTcshg

    How many senses?

Yes, more than six. In addition to sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing there is Proprioception and then hunger, heat sensitivity, balance and more.

Crackers and cottage cheese - the making of theology.

Now, let's return to the topic of this thread - a serious topic. Being holy in deeds not merely in words as it touches the treatment of widows and orphans that we encounter and refugees who come to us for shelter and safety.

Crackers and cottage cheese - the making of theology.

Josiah, the pages of the Catechism of the Catholic Church are not "all dogma". About two thirds of it deal with moral teaching, liturgy, and prayer. One third is specifically doctrinal. It's the first third. The Catechism itself points this out in its table of contents.

Crackers and cottage cheese - the making of theology.

Oh, I forgot to observe that my printed copy of the Catechism of the Council of Trent (in English translation) is from 1923 being a translation from the edition of 1566. My copy of saint Augustine's Catechism in English translation is copyright 1999. The original is from his Latin text of 419...

Crackers and cottage cheese - the making of theology.

My copy of The Catechism of the Catholic Church is copyright 1994, 1997. It's copyright page says it is the 1994 English Translation of the French edition later corrected in accordance with the Latin "typical edition" (hence the second date 1997). The Typical Edition in Latin is the edition from...

Sabbath keeping counts towards what, exactly?

I agree that when people tell us that "we're free from the law" they almost always go on to list a whole lot of rules we need to obey to be in their group like - no dancing, no night clubs, no missing meetings, no setting up your own bible studies without pastoral supervision, no .... no ... and...

    Holy holy holy ...

The Cambridge Bible Commentary says Isaiah 6:3 And one cried unto another] (frequentat. impf.). Cf. Rev 4:8. Holy, holy, holy is Jehovah of Hosts: That which fills the whole earth is His glory. The word “holy,” thrice repeated as if it struck the chord to which the whole nature of these pure...

    True meaning of repentance

I read your post and I start to wonder what you think sin is. Was Eve already a sinner when she heard the serpent say "Has God said ..." or was it when she "saw that the fruit was good ..." or when she "took it and ate it..."?

Sabbath keeping counts towards what, exactly?

That's good. I usually set aside time on Sunday and some time on Monday and Tuesday and ... all the days including Saturday :)

    My hippy moment :P

I have fond memories of lying on my top bunk bed in the room I shared with my older brother playing his copy of the Beatles' Abbey Road LP. He's three years older than I so he was listening to things that I was too young to buy for myself :)

Sabbath keeping counts towards what, exactly?

Would I not grow closer to God if I studied and prayed on Mondays?

Sabbath keeping counts towards what, exactly?

Some religions tell us that keeping a day each week is important. They say it counts for something. Judaism says to keep "Saturday" meaning a day starting at sunset Friday and ending at sunset Saturday. Muslims talk of "Friday" as a day of prayer. Christians traditionally reserve "Sunday" for...

Crackers and cottage cheese - the making of theology.

Sometimes I wonder why men and women write so much about God. It can seem as if they prefer to write about him more than to work with him. And as I nibble a cracker with cottage cheese on it I get to wondering about God and his perspective on me and us. Seems to me that theology is about...
