    Anniversary

A lot of times we would have arguments and say mean things and then leave the room and then later act like nobody said anything. It was rare to hear an apology unless it was really really bad

    Consider it joy

I don't think the point of the passage is that we are joyful because of the trials. It isn't telling us to enjoy pain and suffering. But, maybe it is because of trials that God is going to do something great in our lives.

    Consider it joy

It is interesting that you mention doubt because it is also mentioned in this same chapter in James 1:6-8 "but let him ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man expect that he will receive anything...

    Consider it joy

James 1:2-4 says, "Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance, and let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." When I read that first I think it is...

    The Sports Thread

I noticed Jacksonville even won a game against Houston yesterday. That's bad when you get beat by Jacksonville. Maybe they will surprise everyone and be good this year. Cleveland is still Cleveland.

Whats the weather like where you live? (part 3)

It is raining now. We are not in the direct path of Irma, but these clouds and rains are associated with it. We are suppose to get some wind also and maybe an inch or two of rain. It is 60 degrees out

    praying for revival.

The church that I attend on Sunday mornings is preparing for revival services starting in October. We are praying for a movement of God in our church and community. The pastor preached on Nehemiah 8:1-10 where Ezra read from the law and the people responded. He said that the people showed up...

    voices week 3

In the sermon this week the pastor I heard mentioned that there are a lot of voices or people and things that demand our attention. We have a choice about what we allow ourselves to fix our thoughts on. He referred to passages such as Prov 4:23, Romans 12:2 and 2 Corinthians 10:5 and Proverbs...

    The Sports Thread

I was a big fan on Dallas Cowboys up until a few years ago. Now, I think they are just a bunch of overgrown, overpaid men giving each other head injuries.

Do you give things up for revival or prayer?

It's giving something up with the idea that you are using that time that you would use for what your giving up on prayer. there is biblical evidence that people did this such as fasting. People fasted and gave up food for periods of time to focus more on prayer. Also, for me, I feel like...

    Making Plans

That reminds me of when Samuel anointed David to be king. He had to wait a long time for Saul to die in battle before he could take the throne. There was an incident where Saul went into a cave and it was within David's power to kill him, but he didn't do it. He let God do things in his time...
