Set your mind on the things above

Our thoughts should be filled with the things where Christ now dwells, where our final home is to be, where our great interests are. Since we are raised from the death of sin, and are made to live anew, the great object of our contemplation should be the heavenly world. Eternal life is an...

    Proof texting

When read as addressing the community of the faithful - which is enduring - the words of the Lord make sense both in terms of what is in the immediate future for the community and what is in the distant future for the community. Read it as addressed to individuals and it makes sense only for...

What if the Pope tweeted like Donald Trump does?

My guess is that he "says" what is tweeted but the tweet is "typed" by somebody else. Probably somebody who is better at mobile devices :)

    Doubts in my Church

I think it depends on your expectations. Do not choose a church that you disagree with on important matters because that will make your life miserable. There is give and take in every relationship and that includes your relationship with a church. Be prepared to change your thinking on matters...

Who IS and IS NOT a Christian?

I agree about testing their stated theological views and that the nature of God the person of Christ matter in the tests. The [exclusive and ultimate] authority of holy scripture is a distinctively Protestant test, Catholics have a different view and so do Orthodox.

    Non denominational churches

At the end of their history Jim Jones's group were definitely weird and dangerous but at the beginning they were fairly normal Christians with a social conscience. The Branch Davidians were Adventists in the beginning but by the end of their history they'd become very strange indeed.

Who IS and IS NOT a Christian?

That may be so but when a person identifies as a Christian then accepting their word for it is good manners and unless they show by words and conduct that their claim to be a Christian is false there's no good reason to treat them as anything but a Christian.
