What do you like most about the church you attend?

This is meant as a positive thread to give us a chance to tell each other the positives we see in the church we attend. I like how the church I attend reaches out and helps others. We have a big emphasis several times a year where we try to mobilize all of our church into serving. I think...

    the buzz about alcohol

I don't drink alcohol for several reasons. I don't think I need anything to impair my judgement anymore than it already is usually to start with, plus I don't like the taste. Though i haven't tasted much of it. Plus, I think if I did drink I would probably become an alcoholic. You don't want...

    the buzz about alcohol

According to Barna Research "Though we’re far removed from the temperance movement, Americans today still feel ambivalent about the effects of alcohol. For instance, among those of legal drinking age who do not drink, the most common reason given is seeing the negative effects drinking has on...

USA Trump Administration forbids CDC from using 7 words

I find this disturbing particularly when it comes to the words evidence based and science based. Unless your against evidence and science this doesn't make any sense to me. Kinda like the entire Trump administration doesn't make any sense to me.

    Odd dreams

It felt like the whole night last night I was dreaming of the town I was in being built up. Construction was everywhere. I heard myself say in the dream that the church I was in was going to start doing more service with the homeless and food panties and other service items. Big buildings...

Little white lies here and there? Sin?

Lying really bothers me. It comes down to being a person of integrity and people being able to trust you and your word. I had a coworker who I supervise lie to me yesterday and I'm still mad about it.

Why celebrate Jesus birth on December 25?

I was just curious about why the date was picked and the history behind it. Turns out it is arbitrary and without any evidence that it happened that date at all. Did you notice a recent survey that said that a majority of people don't consider Christmas to be a religious holiday at all?

Why celebrate Jesus birth on December 25?

Turns out there isn't a lot of evidence that Jesus incarnation occurred on December 25 at all. https://www.biblicalarchaeology.org/daily/biblical-topics/new-testament/how-december-25-became-christmas/ "The Bible offers few clues: Celebrations of Jesus’ Nativity are not mentioned in the...
