Changed Morality in the Catholic Church

I wonder what the Catholic church makes of it that God ordered some people executed in the Old Testament. If the death penalty is so bad when was it okay for the Israelites to carry it out in the Old Testament at God's command? The Old Testament Law prescribed the death penalty for an...

No, it is very flat by the lake. Only one spot for the whole 7.2 miles where it is hilly and that doesn't last long.

    Doctors office policy

I am sent a survey to fill out every time I see a doctor in our network. One of the questions is always how late I was made to wait for the doctor past the appointment time. I can say they usually have a good track record. Only once or twice have I had to wait pass 15 minutes after the...

    Doctors office policy

I was just curious about what others experiences are with professionals you have an appointment with such as a doctor or specialist? Do they charge you if you don't show up or cancel late? Do they limit the number of times that you can cancel or reschedule? I'm fairly sure that if I don't...

    Coping skills with stress

My Molly cat is spoiled rotten. She gets treated like the princess that she is. Seriously though, I am searching for more coping skills. Working full time and part time job is stressful. I am joining a men's group this Wednesday which should be fun

The Official Chat Thread - Part 3

We didn't get hardly any rain for a month and then we got an enormous amount of rain in the last two or three weeks every day. All the rivers were up to their banks. I'm sure the whole trail didn't get flooded, but there are some areas that are fairly close to the lake that it wouldn't be...

A warmer world is a better world.

I don't have any research to back this up at the moment, but my guess is that it has to do with climate change. The drought that California has experienced on and off for the last 30 plus years is a main factor in the fires and how easy it is for them to get started.

The Official Chat Thread - Part 3

I wanted to run down my favorite trail this weekend, but it is closed due to down trees and flooding. So, I went and ran on the treadmill for four miles.

A warmer world is a better world.

Tell that to the people in California whose homes have burned to the ground by the hundreds.

    Helicopter parents

I may have somewhat of a different viewpoint because in my face to face therapy practice I see kids who were abuse and neglected. I don't think Americans hover over their kids in an unnecessary way. In fact, many parents don't at all and don't give their children the attention they crave...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 6

Yes, air conditioning in Texas in August is not optional. When i lived in Ft.Worth back in 1990 my car's air conditioner blew one summer. the heat index was about 105 for weeks at a time and it just couldn't handle it. I remember a big puff of smoke coming out of my car one day when I was...

Ohio State University coach on leave

I doubt that Meyer's will coach again at Ohio State. I think they hold on to him for a couple more weeks or until the season starts then let him go. Maybe hoping that this minimizes the chance he will go to another school that plays against them. Maybe that is cynical of me to think that way
