Is there a Calvinist who thinks he/she is not Elect?

It looks as if you do in fact believe that you are one of God's elect thus confirming what was posited in the first post of this thread.

    Pray to be worthy.

Does anybody object to praying to God asking to be made worthy to stand before Christ? Luke 21: 36 Be watchful and pray constantly, that you may be worthy to stand before the Son of Man.

"Catholic Answers" Why Did Luther's Heresy Persist?

It seems likely to me that the Catholic Answers chaps are using "heresy" in the singular to denote "all the heresies of which Martin Luther was accused". It is like people speaking of "the sin of the world" meaning all sins in which human beings engage.

Is there a Calvinist who thinks he/she is not Elect?

No, I see no contradiction between salvation by grace and purging the faithful from their flaws prior to receiving them into the presence of God who cannot look upon sins. If you want I can give you scripture references for what I just typed. But I think that you already believe that in heaven...

"Catholic Answers" Why Did Luther's Heresy Persist?

Exsurge Domine starts with these words: Exsurge Domine Condemning the Errors of Martin Luther Pope Leo X - 1520 Arise, O Lord, and judge your own cause. Remember your reproaches to those who are filled with foolishness all through the day. Listen to our prayers, for foxes have arisen seeking to...

Is there a Calvinist who thinks he/she is not Elect?

MennoSota, you've written these and similar words dozens of times and must have by now read at least one of the many replies that I've given to you. But for the sake of clarity once again I say The faithful are saved by grace through faith for the purpose of living in the good works that God...

    Back to the moon?

China, India, Japan, and possibly Russia plan to go to the moon so would the USA not go? If the cost of rocketry drops enough Australia might also send somebody to the moon, though at current costs it is not very likely.

Is there a Calvinist who thinks he/she is not Elect?

That's an interesting comment, every Catholic that I know and with whom I have discussed this matter knows that we all go through purgatory except for the few who are exemplary in their holiness and are recognised as canonical saints. The priests that I know, and I know a good number, say that...

Is there a Calvinist who thinks he/she is not Elect?

Your words brought to mind a passage in Isaiah. The song of Hezekiah, king of Judah, after he had been sick and had recovered from his illness: Once I said, In the noontime of life I must depart! To the gates of the nether world I shall be consigned for the rest of my years. I said, I shall...

Is there a Calvinist who thinks he/she is not Elect?

Theologically speaking Catholic teaching is that the faithful are on the road that leads to salvation - the straight and narrow path - rather than "saved" in the sense in which many Protestants claim to be "saved".

"Catholic Answers" Why Did Luther's Heresy Persist?

You and your interlocutor (@Josiah) appear to have strayed a good distance away from the topic of the thread. And since the list of 41 heresies that Catholics contemporary with Martin Luther changed against Luther was given nobody seems very interested in the topic of Luther's heresy (or...

Is there a Calvinist who thinks he/she is not Elect?

Calvinist folk talk a lot about TULIP matters, sometimes under the name "the doctrines of grace" and in TULIP is the topic of election. I can't recall a single Calvinist advocate who did not think he/she was elect. They all appear to believe that they are among the elect of God. Why is that?
