    APOSTLE'S or NICENE Creed?

From my understanding the Scriptures are God given and reveal His purposes in Jesus Christ; whereas the Creeds are man's compilation of God's Word in shorthand, to be used liturgically, yet but both are subject to misinterpretation.

That could also happen to the Creeds. ¿n'est pas?

What about God's Word as revealed to the Holy Prophets and Apostles?

    APOSTLE'S or NICENE Creed?

So the Creeds are more temporal, addressing the issues of the day?

    APOSTLE'S or NICENE Creed?

If you're familiar with recent Church history, the early 20th century saw a violent attack on the inspiration of the Scriptures. It had nothing to do with attracting non believers but rather it sowed doubt in the minds of those weak in the faith.

Thank you. Do you have a preference?

    APOSTLE'S or NICENE Creed?

Sorry, but that is a direct quote from Scripture (1Cor 15:3). There is no confession regarding the Scriptures. I mentioned that the other time.

    APOSTLE'S or NICENE Creed?

Thank you for asking, it sure beats assuming and putting words in peoples mouths. I don't believe I have a problem with the Creeds, they are fine as far as they go. I'm just surprised that since they are based on Scripture there is no mention of the Scriptures, but like someone has said, that...

    APOSTLE'S or NICENE Creed?

Glad you were amused. I hope I didn't say that 'the Creeds were written by men' rather that they were 'compiled' by men, i.e. piecing together bits and pieces of what was 'inspired by God'.

    APOSTLE'S or NICENE Creed?

So where do the Creeds fit into that Latin scenario.

    APOSTLE'S or NICENE Creed?

The Creeds are not sacrosanct. They are a brief compilation of the Scriptures by man and as such are subject to defeciencies and should not be treated as 'a Christian untouchable'.

    APOSTLE'S or NICENE Creed?

'according to this Scriptues' is a direct quote from the Scriptures (1Cor 15:4)' it is not covering the nature of the Scriptures as it covers the Persons of the Godhead or as 2Tim 3:15-16 does. IOW, it seems to be ignoring the very foundation it is built on.

    APOSTLE'S or NICENE Creed?

You are totally wrong about my motive of denigrating. Just forget the topic if it's offensive to you. And I'm not debating anything, I was just trying to get some clarification.

    APOSTLE'S or NICENE Creed?

No, there is no mention of the Scriptures in the Creeds even though they are based on the Scriptures.

    APOSTLE'S or NICENE Creed?

But isn't it based on Scripture?

    APOSTLE'S or NICENE Creed?

No, I have already stated that the Creeds are based on Scripture...the very thing the Creeds leave out!

    APOSTLE'S or NICENE Creed?

I know it's history but the question still lingers. The Person of Christ and the Trinity were the first challenges so they were addressed in the Creeds. I guess it shows the insufficiency of the Creeds as the attacks morph, in the turn of the 20th century the battle revolved around the...

    APOSTLE'S or NICENE Creed?

I presume the [Roman] Catholic Church derived it's moniker from the Creed.
