Salvation not based on our merit

There is a difference between mere "mental assent" belief (James 2:19) and saving belief (Acts 16:31) which is saving faith. (Romans 3:22-26)

Salvation not based on our merit

Although it is our responsibility to choose to believe in Christ unto salvation and we will be held accountable for unbelief, (John 3:18) saving belief in Christ is never exclusively a matter of human decision. Unless the Father draws us (John 6:44) and enables us (John 6:65), we would never...

Salvation not based on our merit

No, Christ is my Savior. Through faith I simply received the free gift of eternal life. (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8,9)

Salvation not based on our merit

Christ's death, burial and resurrection is the actual means of our salvation and faith is the instrumental means by which we obtain salvation.

Salvation not based on our merit

Jesus Christ saves us through faith based on the merits of His finished work of redemption "alone" and not based on the merits of our works. (Romans 3:24-26)

Salvation not based on our merit

It accomplished victory over sin and death and provided eternal life for believers. (John 3:18) My faith not only believes that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ "happened" but also trusts in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of my...

Salvation not based on our merit

The truth is not hard to understand. It's just hard for a lot people to accept.

Salvation not based on our merit

Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. ✝️ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

Salvation not based on our merit

Jesus Christ saves us through faith based on the merits of His finished work of redemption "alone" and not based on the merits of our works. (Romans 3:24-26) Not to be confused with an empty profession of faith/dead faith that remains "alone" barren of works. (James 2:14) It is through faith...

Discussions on the Sabbath & Resting in Jesus

Sunday has not replaced Saturday as the Sabbath day. Christians worship on Sunday as a memorial of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. While the New Testament describes Christians gathering together on Sunday (first day of the week) to break bread and lay something aside, storing up as he may...

Discussions on the Sabbath & Resting in Jesus

I'll start here. Since the old covenant has been made obsolete, does this leave us with no moral direction? Absolutely not. God made obsolete the old covenant to legally put into place the new covenant. (2 Corinthians 3:6-9; Hebrews 8:6-13) The life of discipleship flows out of the new command...

Discussions on the Sabbath & Resting in Jesus

Now although God's rest on the seventh day (Genesis 2:3) did foreshadow a future sabbath law, there is no Biblical record of the sabbath being kept before the children of Israel left the land of Egypt. *Nowhere in Scripture is there any hint that sabbath keeping was practiced from Adam to Moses...

How often do you get a new phone?

I noticed the closings costs (as I call it) took a nice jump from the last time my wife and I got new phones. In 2020 after signing on the dotted line and completing the purchase of our new cell phones we had to pay $190. After completing our purchase in 2024 those costs rose to $310.

    Once Saved, Always Saved?

I actually prefer the terms, "preservation of the saints" (Psalm 37:28; Jude 1:3) and eternal security of the believer (Ephesians 1:13-14) over the term OSAS because of all the negative connotations that get attached to OSAS (license to sin/license for immorality etc..) by those who strongly...

    James 2 thought

He mentioned something about salvation being a process of becoming holier and holier through time and said this is a work of grace that God performs in our hearts through faith. He also said we trust and do God’s work that he instills within us to receive more grace so that we may become holier...

    James 2 thought

In James 2:21, notice closely that James does not say that Abraham's work of offering up Isaac resulted in God accounting Abraham as righteous. The accounting of Abraham's faith as righteousness was made in Genesis 15:6, (also see Romans 4:2-3) many years before his work of offering up Isaac...
